lisa,, I'm not saying that there is no manipulation at all,,( I see it all the time) but I think what everyone perceived as manipulation these past few days was not... Buying incredible gobs of stock to hold or increase prices would be downright suicide...

The market is too big for manipulation. Just possibly, a few points up or down here and there could be caused by calculated actions intended for that purpose.

And, of course, stocks of small companies could be manipulated.

But would-be manipulators of the market as a whole would be overwhelmed immediately by the slightest change in mass sentiment.

What is really moving this market is a gradually dawning realization that stocks are only pieces of paper that promise nothing and offer a lot of risk.
