These stocks cant do well all by themselves. If we dont have sectors leading the market, then there is further trouble in the market later in the year. There are very few healthy companies in the semis other than INTC. In the networkers, only CSCO and ASND are OK though COMS and CS are showing signs of having bottomed. Computers look like they have the most healthy companies in general - DELL, CPQ, GTW, SUNW look good. MSFT is infallible but a lot of software stocks are suffering (but still I would rank softwares as the sector where the secular trends are still favorable). The nets remain an enigma to me. The pharmas are steady but expensive - this is why the mature biotechs are a safe bet - low multiple compared to pharmas, potential buyout candidates, negligible impact of global economic troubles, earnings are mostly domestic, low risk.
