Because 40-50% of the public now holds stock in some form or another, it could be a really dragged-out thing. On the other hand, a lot of retirement/IRA plans are set up so that with a phone call you can dump stocks and go money market. In fact, it IS a "new era" in the breadth of the participation and capacity of people to follow the market closely and act on hunches. How about this: God Knows What Will Happen. But my own imperfect though God-given intellect tells me that that paper ain't worth half what people paid for it.
