As far as I can tell, no one has suggested that stance. Lying under oath undermines the rule of law - the very foundation upon which this nation was built. The "all men are created equal" idea referred to being equal under the law. Lying is not illegal - immoral yes, illegal, no. Lying under oath can be illegal. Lying to a Grand Jury investigating a criminal case (which the Starr GJ was) is almost definitely illegal.

No, it's not okay. But it's not a crime. Many things are not okay but still aren't crimes.

The principle is really basic:

Presidents shouldn't commit crimes while in office. They shouldn't do things that get ordinary people put in jail and pretend it's okay.

I didn't say lying is ok if it isn't under oath. But lying under oath is to first degree murder what lying is to manslaughter.
