j g - well said - however, one needs to address a couple of the other charges with a more substantive legal argument.

To further your analogy in this case, one would have to next claim that the dog survived the first exposure to the poison, then, in order to keep others from knowing he had been foolish enough to feed there, he feigned wellness while continuing to eat greedily at other traps, i.e., obstruction of justice.

As in most politically stupid things, covering it up is usually far more damaging (as well as illegal) than the act itself.

Clinton will probably survive the whole event, and be welcomed and cheered (at some cost to the party, of course) at the next convention - but the illness he acquired has permanently maimed him in the eyes of history, and too much of the party is going to quietly treat him as if he were a leper. Given what apparently swirls around him and the people he has brought down into the quagmire, he deserves the ignominy.
