You (it sound after checking with your broker) are confirming what I said. The way it actually works is seamless. If you buy before the Ex div date (ie on or before Sept 23, but not on Sept 24 or later), you get the spinoff shares appearing in your account. If you sell after the 11th but on or before the 23rd, you never knew you had them. Because really, you didn't. Through the mechanism of "due bills".
