I'm not a I'll back up the truck type guy at all, in fact I love the freedom cash allows, (85% right now) but I'm also not a I'll buy at 24, then dollar cost at lower levels guy. I'm a let's see the bad news in the price and then look around and make sure that I'm making the best choice given the range of options open to me and if I mess up then make sure I have the funds to $ cost average if I still believe, or take the punch and move on. AMAT has hung pretty tough. It trades at about 48 times my most optimistic estimation of next years earnings, it trades at levels that looked unthinkable just 3 years ago. It just doesn't look cheap to me. Wait until they really admit, and write-off the mistakes of '97 before buying. Wait until at least one big player panics. Wait until buys have become holds. Wait until capitulation or buy something that has. ...
