One example of a closed loop system- small Australian high-tech gold processor/refinery operator Geo2 Ltd. geo2.com.au has been contracted by Newmont Gold Mines to trial, and if successful, develop a closed loop system to process a liquid waste stream from a sulphide treatment process called biox. Major advantage of the system is its low cost of several million dollars, but it should be able to treat a very substantial waste stream. I enjoy reading this thread and the reaction of shareholders and others to the various setbacks as they occur, I wonder how GPGI raises funds to continue its work. You may wish to look at how Geo2 organized its funding, as they have been addressing gold recovery/leaching/trial plant development issues by way of a series of well funded joint ventures/trials/r&d syndications with Newmont, U.S. EPA/Dept. of Energy, Australian Governments (Fed/State) and private investors. These technology issues are too expensive and complex for a 'mom and pop' operator to address. Geo2 is itself a small operator (market cap $25M), but it feels it has a very good chance of becoming a major player. I hope GPGI solves its problems, but it will take a lot of money.
