According to the news reports, 3 reporters, including a well-known journalist (I believe it was Peter Jennings) went to the House to report that they had been approached by a senior WH official with the story about 2 weeks ago, well before Salon magazine had been approached. The initial reports also said that ABC news, one of the organizations involved, might be willing to name its source. We'll see how this plays out.
