Gary,

Since you used the CIEN example, let me share a lesson I learned. The market knows and it doesn't lie.

< I think Mory will be happy with an announced deal of 60'ish and a downside collar. >

Shouldn't ASND be at least trading in the mid 50s if this were the case ?

< Its also likely that by the time the deal closes, ASND shareholder could get 70 or even 80.>

Based on what ? With this market and the annual October sell-off around the corner ? I don't concur.

I just feel a little funny about this one. It's too obvious, too easy. Just like CIEN when it was trading at $ 28 ...

Cheers,

Peppe

<< I believe LU only wants a very healthy company. One that will allow them to compete head-on against CSCO where they have a chance of winning>>

This assumes LU does a mega buy of a data networking company. They've bought some sick small ones so far (Lannet) and FORE and CS and NN have much more reasonable prices per revnue that ASND. I still think the issue on an ASND buy is the product overlap.
