Who said that a block of 125,000 is one trade. it could be many orders "bunched" together but coming from one house and this in fact happens often when brokerages liquidate. Besides it constitutes less than 10% of the trading that occurred in the last half hour. Most trades were of the small variety.

I do recall reading on SI (I believe on Market Gems forum), of an investor's position being liquidated involuntarily due to a margin call (I believe this weas one of the discount brokers). Couldn't reach the client, so sell order was entered. Evidently, it does happen, although who knows if it happened with NT yesterday.
