at the Montgomery conference,

according to thestreet.com,

PRIA said it is now seeing a stabilization of orders, although it is a low level where it has stabilized.

TER says its orders this Q are flat with last Q. TER says it has had no cancellations this Q, whereas it did have cancellations last Q.

AMAT gave nothing positive in its forecasts

At least that's the understanding I got from thestreet's reports.

Katherine,

I have a question regarding the long term outlook and potential recovery of the industry.

It seems to me that during the high flying days, the emphasis was on the next "new and improved" fab, with less emphasis on how to squeeze the last drop of productivity from existing facilities.

Has this wake up call redirected some of the creativity on cost cutting vs just signing blank checks to the semi equipment companies for the next generation stuff?

Needless to say, the next round of analysis is going to be how strong, in terms of revenue and earnings, the industry would be when they rebound.
