I agree, shorting ARET needs a conspiracy between the MM's, and they will all have to have ice in their belly and venes, to dare at current level of price. But if a stock is wildly overvalued then what.

You have a point about the averaging up scenario by MMs who are short.. I meant to add that MMs will back off when they see a stock rise and wait for a peak before shorting again. But the key is that they will short again., if shorting is their game plan.

However, make no mistake about it, the naked shorting of BBs, which you consider to be a recipe for financial disaster, is an MM's most powerful tool. You seem surprised that it is done. On the contrary, it is done ALL the time. It is a near sacrament for MMs. Most of the time they do it to keep orderly flow of business. You want to buy from them, but they have no shares. If they tell you that, you go somewhere else and probably never call them again. To avoid this, they sell Naked, with the intent to cover quickly.

The more dangerous kind is the vindictive shorting and shorting ad nauseum, with the sole intent to drive the price down. This too is done a lot.

I really don't think this type of shorting is going on with ARET right now. If it were, we would be at .001 not .01.

But intraday shorting and covering is certainly one explanation for heavy volume day in and day out with no change in price. We're getting 100 and 200 posts a day, so this stock has interest. We all claim to be long and most of us truly may be long. But if MMs are churning the volume, coupled with those longs who really aren't, then the price won't move.

Something has got to give, one way or another, soon. This type of sideways action just cannot continue for long.
