Today I had an interesting experience.

I asked a man down the hall who is retiring in about a year if he was still fully invested in a high growth mutual fund in his 403B account (similar to a 401k). He said, "Yes I am."

I suggested that because he is so close to retirement, that I would recommend that he take the money and put it into a safer fund such as a money market or treasury fund. He said, "No, I guess I'm too greedy. I'm going to wait until the DOW returns to about 9300 before I do that."

I said, "It may not do that for a long, long time, perhaps past your retirement date. In the meantime, what would you do if it crashed to about 4,000?"

He laughed at me and said it would never do that. He said that he would wait for 9300.
