I understand what you're saying. When you short, you commit to a path that says that the maximum return you can possibly make is 100% while you could lose your shirt if it takes off. Your logic makes sense.

However, shorters are different than you and me. They believe, and the BB history has validated their belief, that no matter what the run, they all will pull back.Typically, they all do pull back. Moreover, most of the stocks they short never run much in the first place. True, failures can be devastating, but they are extremely rare and the number of failures that are permanent are rarer still.

And answer this one. If shorting BBs is so dangerous, why is it so difficult for regular investors to find stateside firms that will let the little people do it?

Item #1 - Is MakeMoney and David Sirk one and the same?

Item #2 - MakeMoney's plan is about as realistic as calling in your certs for a short squeeze - won't happen

Item #3 - The entire stock market doesn't know what the hell it's doing...... why should ARET be any different

Item #4 - There are not enough women on this thread to maintain some semblance of discipline here

Item #5 - This stock will move when the 5 day average volume exceeds 10M, That will occur sometime this year

Item #6 - "I never think of the future, it comes soon enough." Einstein

You are absolutely right - I'm not the type shorting stocks - But there is a subculture of investors ( I call it stock players ).

Subject 18700

It is against my investor "etics" - But as it is allowed I have to accept it. I also have to accept that MM's by "mistake" can be "short" for a short period on OTC stocks. It is illegal shorting, but they are off the hook if they report it.

I'm neither in for making cartel agreements for the trade of stocks though.

I agree with TG that the sidewards movement will eventually stop and trading pattern return to normal - It would be nice to be informed of what happened, but I doubt we will ever get the real story behind it.
