more on dclk, new research report excerpts....
BancBoston Robertson Stephens Initiates Coverage on DoubleClick
PR Newswire - September 17, 1998 10:20
Jump to first matched term

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- BancBoston Robertson Stephens research analyst Keith Benjamin initiated coverage today on DoubleClick (Nasdaq: DCLK) with a Long Term Attractive rating. DoubleClick provides outsourcing solutions to Internet advertisers and Web publishers.

The DoubleClick salesforce sells ads for 230 Web sites, including AltaVista, the Dilbert Zone, MindSpring, Macromedia and U.S. News and World Report. It's DART technology serves ad banners and offers targeting software on a pay-per-click basis. DART has over 98 worldwide customers, including NBC, The Wall Street Journal Interactive, RealNetworks and The Sporting News.

"We believe DoubleCLick can become the outsourced backend of the targeted Web advertising/commerce business," said Benjamin. "Its services encourage advertisers to spend more on the Web as well as help merchants improve their e-commerce results."

"As the Web continues to grow exponentially, we are seeing Internet advertising dollars lagging behind," Benjamin continued. DoubleClick plans to become the standard outsourcing solution for advertisers, publishers and e-tailers to place banners throughout the Web, helping them to manage their available inventory. DoubleClick offers a variety of services, from outsourcing to data aggregation.

"The challenge in analyzing the company is the change in business model as the company's mix of services and customers evolves," Benjamin said. He believes there could be significant room for upside to DoubleClick's model, however, if the company becomes a proxy for Web advertising solutions.

two last things on DCLK for tonight, 1 they remind me of ad agencies like grey and a few others in their early days, spreading offices and alliances around the world, second out of all of dclk's numerous recent releases this quiet little release will end up being huge down the road
REACHING SPECIFIC TARGET AUDIENCE AND BEING ABLE TO TRACK AND PROVE, LIKE RATINGS PROOF OF VIEWERSHIP JUSTIFIES HIGHER AD RATES.

Agents Technologies Joins the DoubleClick Network; Copernic 98 is the First Proprietary Software to Display Targeted Ads
Business Wire - August 31, 1998 06:44
Jump to first matched term

QUEBEC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 1998--Agents Technologies Corp., developers of innovative search agent technologies and solutions, joined the DoubleClick (Nasdaq:DCLK) Network in a strategic move to bring targeted advertising capabilities to Copernic 98 version 2.5.

The new version of Copernic, intelligent search agent, includes advertisement banners that appear in the top pane of the software while searches are being conducted.

Copernic 98 is the first client-based software that will display banner advertisements in partnership with DoubleClick, allowing advertisers to buy valuable keywords to target consumers. The software is able to recognize words and phrases in order to display an ad that corresponds to the search.

This alliance creates a new online medium for DoubleClick. The software will offer an interesting opportunity for advertisers to join targeted audiences at home or at work and present them products or services corresponding to their interests.

"Copernic technology defines a new level of quality for demographic-based advertising. This partnership with DoubleClick brings a new privileged way for advertisers to reach their audiences. We have qualified demographic data on the subscribed users of Copernic," said Martin Bouchard, president of Agents Technologies.

"The ads shown to users are targeted based upon demographic and geographic data and the information users are searching for."

The free Copernic 98 will display integrated banner ads, while the user can choose to enable this feature in the professional version, Copernic 98plus (30-day trial, $29.95). Those two products are available for download at www.copernic.com and at many partner sites.

Copernic 98, The Metasearch Tool

This software carries out user's searches by simultaneously consulting many Internet search engines and directories such as AltaVista, Excite, HotBot, Infoseek, Lycos and Yahoo. As it searches, the search agent eliminates the repetition of results found on multiple engines. It scores each match, as a percentage or graphically, for relevancy and timeliness.

It also features a detailed user search history to help locate information and further download documents or refine searches. It generates an HTML search report for rapid, hyperlinked access to found documents on the Internet.

Saving searches also means they can be viewed offline and updated later without initiating a completely new search. Copernic 98 may also automatically remove dead links and download found documents for offline browsing. Furthermore, the software and its channel sets are automatically updated.

Copernic's new search wizard aids users through the search creation process and makes finding information on the Web easier and faster. Overall performance is up to 200 percent faster with the new, improved version of the software. The software is fully Windows 98-compliant and also features integrated tools for Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

Copernic has an open architecture and uses Agents Technologies' own search engine scripting technology which supports XML specifications and is the first and only 32-bit, multithreaded Internet tool to provide a complete solution for gathering, reviewing, indexing, cataloging and managing information on the Internet.
