The Dell Optiplex G1 I just installed uses ATI Rage Pro on the motherboard. All Optiplexes use ATI Rage video. This is one of those cases where things get locked-in. Once it's on the basic motherboard, it stays there through the whole generation (with minor tweaks of course).

Ironic but separate 3D only add-ons make a lot of sense in a world of integrated 2D video. Whatever happened to that great idea?

Sorry but nvidia and ATI have Dell sewn up.

Also, re: my earlier Micron comment, the general point was that Micron will try to make graphics as RAM intensive as possible. Embedded DRAM is even more complex than SGRAM or SDRAM. If the graphics industry takes on a race to have the largest texture buffer, then Micron wins. Also, I think Half-Life uses 40 MB per scene, not for the whole game. I read that on sharkyextreme.com, I think. I imagine the whole game will be 300 MB or something (sheesh).

Ok it is just the Rage Pro. I shouldn't have used the "II".
But you get the point of what is on the MB.
