Thanks, JC, for all the information. Since I'm long SUNW (and hate Microsoft) I probably agree with you on the UNIX vs. NT question.

However, can I respectfully ask you if you are long or short GMGC? Since you are giving a comparison of the different companies this would help us see what your perspective is. I've been long for a couple of years.

Thanks, Frank

A few alternate views of Webley from yahoo message board:

They had an office in Schaumburg, Illinois about 2 miles from
Motorola. It was their HQ. The office closed down in less than a
year (President left Company). They are owned in part by Vail
Systems (Deefield,Illinois) who also has offices in downtown
Chicago. That is where the remaining small staff of Webley has
moved. Webley customers complained of poor voice recognition and
irritating voice. You also had to use very exact commands. Portico
is a Mercedes compared to the Webley Volkswagon. There is no
connection to any Motorola product and Webley.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I canceled Webley! It really sucked! My customers complained about
per voice recognition and the 'English Gentleman" personality. My
callers forced me to cancel Webley. Portico is 50 times better.
Webley will never make it as long as there is a Portico to compete
with them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe this limited advertising blitz is Webley's and it's investors
last gasp attempt to get some interest so they can sell the company
and get some return on their investment before better funded and
superior services like Portico take their market.

Wildfire is the other product of this type that I'm familiar with
and has received capital infusion from Microsoft and Intel--see
wildfire.com
wildfire.com
Wildfire currently doesn't have links to the Web or to email, but
according to a rep I talked to is incorporating email soon, as JC
says in his/her post.

Portico's interaction voice sounds very like Wildfire's. I suppose
there are only a couple ways to do the voice right (english butler
or sultry female). Any takers for Gilbert Gottfried?

The value of the Web search link would depend on how good of a
search you can get from verbal criteria--I'm not convinced you can.

Wildfire also is signing deals with carriers lately:
