From an e-mail I received from and industry watch person.

"On Monday there's a 3 hour
marathon press conference with heidelberg
at Ipex followed after a short refreshment
break by a session with Creo."

"Something will come out
of this and with sessions with Presstek in
the next week or so.

Your thinking does not surprise me as the
system that Creo and Heidelberg appear to have chosen,
moving the laser head away from the press when
printing strikes me as prone to inaccuracy.
Heidelberg is talking about a two minute imaging time
for each plate, again something that's pushing
the edge of technology.

I don't know enough about the Presstek laser, but
the obvius reason has to be that while a Presstek array
has 24/32/48 laser diodes to attack the plate,
Creo has 480 separately modulated beams on its
conventional platesetter, 240 on its thermal,
so even 120 beams say would offer a faster imaging speed.

Not much use if it doesn't work however."

"I believe you are right to be bullish, but I stress
the need for patience.

Some real news next week"

It will be interesting to hear the news that will come from this Ipex show.
Things that make ya go Hmmmmm.....
Good luck to each and all

Dear Steve,
Shame on you!!! Matching wits with Scott!
I never thought of you as someone who would fight someone who was unarmed!

Jim :-)
