INNOVACOM SHOWCASES TRANSPEG AND DVD AUTHORING PRODUCTS AT IBC Santa Clara, Calif., - InnovaCom, Inc., (OTC/BB:MPEG) will showcase their TransPEG 500 and DV 5000 DVD Authoring System at this year's IBC show in Amsterdam on September 11th to the 15th, in Hall 2, Stand 241 at the RAI Exhibition and Conference Centre. InnovaCom will partner with several distinguished companies, including Sagitta, Thomson-CSF Enterprise Networks, Vixel, VITEC and Xyratex in exhibiting their products.
The fist exhibit demonstrates state-of-the-art encoding and decoding of video data over a Fibre Channel ATM based network. In the demonstration, two of InnovaCom's new TransPEG 500 encoders, with their respective cameras, captures live video. The video from each encoder is then encoded and output to Thomson's Thomflex 5400 Ethernet/ATM Access Switch, where the data is distributed onto an ATM based Fibre Channel network to Thomson's ThomFlex 5500 ATM switch. The Thomflex 5500 is specially designed to integrate high bandwidth data and the next generation of video-based intranet and broadcast video services in the same platform. The ThomFlex 5500 also accepts a secondary source through a Fibre Channel loop, comprised of Sagitta's SS-1200-FC storage subsystem and Vixel's RAPPORT 2000 active managed hub. A separate output from the Vixel hub is attached to Xyratex's Protocol Analyzer Plus (PA+) for capturing, monitoring and displaying traffic data. The output of the ThomFlex 5500 ATM switch is then fed to a secondary ThomFlex 5400 switch and output to four separate InnovaCom TransPEG 500 decoders via Fibre Channel, whose outputs are then displayed on monitors.
TransPEG 500 Product Highlights The InnovaCom TransPEG 500, part of a series of five MPEG transmission systems, is a single channel ATM based interface utilizing either I/P or AAL5 protocols to transmit MPEG-1 or 2 data files over an ATM network. Specifically designed for the next generation of economical digital transmission digital video applications, the TransPEG 500 system has the same type of packaging, similar control characteristics and future enhancements such as MavNET(tm) network control as does the rest of the series, which handles T1/E1 (Single or Multiple), Ethernet 100 Base-T, and ASI DVB.
The TransPEG 500 system is designed for a variety of operating requirements, and are compatible with worldwide standards. The system features:
Standards-based 155 Mb/s ATM network interface cards for PCI systems Full-duplex 155 Mb/s connection to ATM network for PCI workstations Classical IP over ATM and LAN Emulation for transparent integration with existing LANs Up to 1,024 virtual circuits sup-ported with either SVC's or PVC's Video data rates from 2.8 Mb/s to 9 Mb/s * CD-Quality stereo audio Composite and Component Y/C Video Inputs Manageable through SNMP and ATM Forum ILMI Ideal for either workstations or workgroup server applications Network operating system drivers for Windows NT(r), NetWare and OS/2 Integrated with the TransPEG 500 transmission system are network interface cards (NICs) that allows the distribution of data over ATM based public networks. With the ATM 155 family of Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network interface cards, users can take full advantage of powerful, business-critical applications. The ATM 155 NICs eliminate network bottlenecks, increase data rates, and enable full-duplex transmission for two-way simultaneous data movement. In addition, the ATM 155 NICs integrate seamlessly with traditional local area networks because they are interoperable with major vendors' ATM switches, routers, concentrators, and edge devices, required to merge existing LANs with ATM. Standards- based interoperability.
DV5000 Corporate DVD Authoring System
The second exhibit will feature InnvoaCom's new DV5000TM Corporate DVD Authoring System running VITEC's Video Clip MPEG-2? editing software. The DV5000, integrated with VITEC's editing software, forms a complete MPEG encoding, editing, and DVD authoring system. Supporting MPEG formats from SIF to full D1, the Authoring System accepts a wide variety of video sources with frame accuracy. The DV5000 Authoring System also permits external VTR control and optionally supports a DVD-R writer or DLT tape writer for output.
The VITEC Video Clip MPEG-2 editing package rounds out the system, coupling the world's first non-linear frame accurate MPEG-2 editing software package with InnovaCom's Authoring System. The software and the DV5000 offers the following benefits.
Ability to edit MPEG-2 files frame accurately before burning a DVD Removal of MPEG-2 segments within a video stream without having to re- encode Frame accurate copy & paste editing functions in a project window Insertion of transition effects such as titling Multiplexing of an MPEG-1 audio stream and MPEG-2 video stream in an MPEG-2 program file Conversion of an MPEG-2 transport sequence into an MPEG-2 program sequence PCM, audio files available for DVD authoring Machine control available as an option InnovaCom, Inc. is a development stage technology company whose principal product focus is video compression technology and its related systems. The company's MPEG-2 based product line will target the digital television, communications and DVD authoring and production marketplaces. InnovaCom, Inc., is located at 3400 Garrett Drive, Santa Clara, Calif. 95054.
