AMZN strong.. Internets moving nicely. My Opinion on Sector:

Sold AMZN puts yesterday at the high of the day.. and picked up some calls at the open today, but I most likely will not keep them overnight.

The reason I don't like to hold these stocks more than 1-2 days at most is that I can't take advantage of new sectors that might come into favor. If I'm stuck in the internets and tomorrow the banks are trending nicely and the internets happen to be falling, I'm out of luck. By selling after a profit and starting the next day in cash you can take advantage of any 'upgrade', relevant news that could move an entire sector. I nearly got stuck in CMGI after a nice profit on Wednesday by hesitating to sell. I have some trader friends that were shorting the internets yesterday through today. I mentioned that it looked to me that AMZN was a lot stronger stock than it seemed and since it was down 7 1/2 points yesterday I thought it was due for a rebound.

I still thing that AMZN valuations are high, but AMZN does not follow the same rules as other stocks in other sectors. If anyone wants to read an excellent account of all the internet stocks may I suggest September 14, SPECIAL Report (Fifty biggest Pure Internet Copanies, and How they rate) in Internet World Magazine. It's a lot pages of insight into their future, revenue performance. What better source for information on internet stocks is there than it's own 'magazine'.. I see articles about the internet in Worth, Smart Money and Fortune, and though the articles are excellently written they don't cut beneath the surface, nor are they meant to. The inform the public, but traders should know more.

For example, CKSG is number 11th out of 50 in REVENUE, which was why I got so bullish on CKSG about a week ago and did so well with the stock BUT NOW IS NOT the time the short the sector for any length of time. Just maybe 1-2 puts or shorts for a daytrade or 2 days at the most, but they are resilient.. they bounce right back.
