That wasn't my point, which was that Paul E. started work at Intel in 1974. I'll bet he got a bunch of stock options then...which make him a very rich man now. The question is hedging. Lot easier riding out the bumps while sitting on huge profits rather than having bought Intel a year ago and holding your breath.
Stock aquired in 1974 is worth hundreds of times what it was then.
Lot easier to hype the stock and ride out the bumps.
