I think Cisco should offer 1/2 share of Cisco for 1 share of Ciena which would work out to about $30 at current CSCO price. I think this would be a good deal for both companies. Cisco is already working with Ciena, and it makes too much sense for them to pass up on this opportunity to pick up Ciena cheap. Cisco is a great company but has less than 1/3 the revenues of Lucent; they better make sure that they have their guns fully loaded when they take on Lucent and Ciena is an important bullet that they will need in their war with Lucent.
