If Brazil devalues day after their election in first week of October, or imposes capital controls, a debt moratorium etc, NT, LU etc will get really creamed. This is more of a risk than many think.

Has anybody sorted out the combined Bay/Nortel short interest?

Bay always had a lot more day traders than NT. Often, I saw NT trade less than 200,000 shares. So, one could conclude that more volatity is caused by BAY and perhaps they hold more weight on a TA question despite being a smaller company. Also, with over half the NT position held by Bell Canada, there isn't that much tradable stocks.

Is Lucent as pure a telecom play as NT? They have big semiconductor operations amongst other interests.

Options expiration. NT will end the day at $40.

Just my opinions of which I have many. :)

Regards,

Mark
