Coronary stents are used to keep Coronary vessels open, aster dilatation of the vessel by angioplsty procedure. The vessels are soft and may collapse or narrow, but stents keep them wide open.

Today, almost all angioplsties are followed by stent insertion. I learn from Cardiologist griends that AVEI stents are more flexible, more durable and easily visible.

The hospitals usually donot stock more than fe stents at a time, since they are expensive. It varies from $ 1295-2295 dollars per piece. The hospitals generally let the Cardiologist choose which stent they want to use, rather than hand then one type from one supplier. There are minor variations in their characteristics and hospitals do not want to get involved in trying to decide which one to be used when.

What happens if there is price war? Anything is possible, but in general that does not happen in sophisticated medical supples like pace makers, stents.
