Don't underestimate Intels ability to have some surprises in reserve.
Intel is not dumb. If the K6-3 blows the doors off the Pentium II they will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat. I don't know exactly what it will be but the Dixon will easily whip the Pentium II... Other possibilities include...
1. early release of .18 and big speed jump.
2. early release of Katmai
3. Jump to faster Celeron As before the end of the year.

Understand that the Pentium II-450 was available in August. Intels roadmap doesn't suggest any more speed jumps until next year.
Something is fishy.
