They're acting like they can go it alone to get a better price, although part of it may also be that they're being prudent in case they do have to go it alone. There's an awful lot of beaten down networkers out there who could easily fit LU's bill, and if LU has any brains they'll use that in negotiations. A merger's the only way ASND is going to grow. If they couldn't compete effectively against CSCO, they're going to get killed by the big telecom boys. They smartly turned down ERICY at $55 because they knew they would get more growth out of a $50 deal with LU.
