Lewinsky was 22 at the time the affair began. 18 is the oldest age of consent in any jurisdiction that I am aware of. (It actually varies from 15 to 18 from state to state, I believe.) 18 is the voting age, and age of majority for most purposes. (Excepting only drinking, I believe.)

Involvement with any sort of teenager would have been a lot more distasteful to most people, I think.

But if a woman who has graduated from college is not thought to be a full adult, are we not patronizing and infantalizing women?

My strong impression is that most women of Monica's age feel strongly as I have outlined.
