U.S. DVD Conference Spotlights Latest Information of DVD Formats --
DVD-Audio Theater to Offer Superb Sound Experiences

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1998--As DVD continues to attract attention and increased marketplace
support, the DVD Forum today announced the detailed program for the third DVD Conference to be held in the United
States. The two-day conference will provide all the latest news on developments in the DVD format family with a special
opportunity to experience DVD-Audio. Representatives from the DVD industry are encouraged to attend, including hardware
and software developers. Information and on-line registration are available at wwem.com.

Initiated in 1996 by the DVD Forum, the international organization to develop and promote DVD, the DVD Conference is
fast establishing itself as the premiere event for getting the latest news and information on developments in the dynamic world
of DVD. In less than two years, DVD-Video has brought unsurpassed levels of realism and excitement to home video while
DVD-ROM and RAM have added new dimensions to the capabilities of computers. This year's conference will also spotlight
the latest developments in these technologies, including DVD-Audio, DVD-R (4.7 gigabytes), DVD-RAM (4.7 gigabytes)
and DVD-RW.

At the conference, industry leaders will present updates on current and emerging DVD market opportunities, with executives
from Time Warner and Intel opening the proceedings by highlighting DVD potentials in software and hardware. Recent DVD
trends, market analysis, copy protection, and a report on DVD verification activities will also be presented.

Key sessions will range over a number of issues. One expected to attract considerable attention is DVD-Audio. A
wide-ranging overview will cover DVD-Audio not only as a means to playback music, but also as a dynamic means for
adding new capabilities to computing and a new edge to entertainment. Discussions will be complemented by the chance to
experience the quality and features of DVD-Audio at a specially equipped DVD-Audio Theater.

Other sessions will show how DVD continues to develop new levels of functionality and capabilities, with innovations and
updates in the DVD-RAM, DVD-R and DVD-RW. A panel discussion will explore new ways of application of DVD
technologies to computing.

Commenting on the conference, Tetsuya Mizoguchi, Senior Vice President of Toshiba Corporation and Chairman of the DVD
Forum's Steering Committee, said: "DVD formats bring new, exciting capabilities to users and are starting to change the way
we use consumer electronics, PCs and other electronic devices. The DVD conference is a very exciting opportunity to show
developers and marketers in the United States the immense advances that have been made since the last conference. I am sure
this year's wider range of industry contributors will help create a dynamic conference for all involved."

In this spirit, the DVD Forum and its worldwide membership of nearly 190 leading companies, looks forward to welcoming
US developers and manufacturers to the DVD Conference, and to working with them to build the continued success of DVD
in the marketplace.
