Hi Pete: Yep, its here. Just over the horizon you can hear it whirling and a rumblin. Balkan states at each other's throats and no Russia to keep them in tow. Hey, Russia is the problem, not a solution for keepin the Balkans quiet. Lots of simmering hatred to catch up on. Sect against sect in the East. Them against us western infidels. '29-'32 will look tame after this tornado hits town. How long? Loooooog time <:#(. A whole firstworld "me first" generation is about to get kicked in the condo, burned in the Bimmer, broiled on the beach.

Don't worry about any part of the firesale except agricultural products and small arms. You won't need metals. Forget petroleum, burn the antiques to keep warm. What you should worry very much about is that in Amerika, third world is just across town. As (its already here) deflation accelerates, when the tornado twists, it will be burn, baby, burn. NYC, LA, SF, Watts, Cleveland, Miami, holy Toledo it will be riot and destruction in Detroit. How about organized hunts in Bel Aire or West Palm Beach? There's lotsa nice Bimmers and Mercs for the guys and gals who've been pillaged and raped by the corporate bonus babies.

How you gonna protect you and yours? I was there when NYC burned in the second blackout. Went into town next day figuring everyone else was cowering in the burbs. Had to change from commuter train to subway in Harlem. Whoa, that was scary (very much emphasis here)!!!! Wished I had packed the US M1A1 45 in the backpack.

How will police behave this time? Leave town, most likely. Leave you and me to fend as best can. Deja Vu Rodney King, only on the world-wide screen this time. Its already happening to the Chineese in some third world countries - huntin down the guys who gobbled up the economy and opportunity.

Don't worry about metal prices - you won't need any. Beachfront property ain't worth nearly as much as a bunker unless there's fine fishing. In that case condos will make firewood for cooking. No, what you need to worry about is a good patch of corn, peas and tomatos and some way to keep the produce for yourself.

Hey, lets write a good, scary movie about when the "me first" generation tried to live off the land. Make it B&W 'cause it will be pretty grim and grimy. Sorry, but in Manhattan there's so little room for a nice tomato patch and you can't eat a Hudson River Trout.

Are you aware that the US government has contingency plans for packing off hoards of people to old military bases in just such an event? Gotta protect the priveledged. If Washington takes it seriously, I think I will too.

Fadeout to the last scene in this dirty little flick - Bill, Monica and the Beltway's best protected by the Marines, you, me and old Tom Joad scrabblin in the dirt.
