iqc.com alta is a very solid junior since it has actual production, good reserves and low cash cost. I agree with you that others may have more "home run" potential. My strategy is to leverage as much as possible, therefore I am buying/selling NEM leaps untill juniors take off. My NEM yr 2000 strike 30s have more than doubled in three weeks. I thought about selling a week ago and would have been able to add 20% more leaps if I had but I am trying to exercise a little more discipline and wait till NEM bounces off 24(next week?). All the us$ analysis I read lately says the $ is going lower(except for armstrong).
