This was a conversational "and" not a logical "and" as in "We are men and women of SI" does not mean that "we" are both men and women at the same time. It is illegal for a company and or its insiders to buy puts on their stock or short its own stock. It is impossible for any one person or organization to cause significant stock movements in either direction for any significant period of time (say more than 4 months) because the market dynamics would not allow it. And it is stupid to think that the insiders would try to do either of above because in addition to the affore memtioned reasons, they have nothing to gain from it; most of their wealth is tied to the stock price and they can more easily make money on their options if the stock goes up, rather than try to buy it at depressed prices.

I hope this helped.
