Fibre Channel Internet??

Larry,

IP over FC has nothing to do with the Internet per se (pronounced "backbone" :-), but everything with FC in the LAN. TCP/IP is the Unix world's networking protocol, whether it's halfway across the globe or just to your local laser printer. IMHO standardization of IP over FC is a precondition if FC in the LAN is to be successful.

Having said that, I always thought NAPs/MAEs/IXs (Internet data exchanges) would make great customers for FC switches - many of these guys move data at gigabit rates, and they need very high reliability. None of them appear to have bought an MK-II just yet though - perhaps because there is no simple, standard approach yet for IP routing over FC switches? I'm just speculating here - any of the *real* techies want to take that one? Is this market dominated by FE/GE?
