I see - Amazongonenutty.com has used forward looking thinking by deciding that it will let others become the pioneers of new products and ventures. It can just sit back and wait until the technology is wrapped up and expensive - that way they can make another brilliant acquisition of a company doing this stuff for 10X what they could do it now. That will help to increase the losses which will inevitably lead speculators to imagine that there must be some wise plan behind the move and drive the stock price up even further.

NZMA's logic seems counter-intuitive but makes brilliant sense if you realize that the company and all speculators have been transported to Bizzaro World!

Onward Amazongonenutty.com!!! Upward to 88!!!?

Superscape 3D For Web E-Commerce

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1998--Galeries de Versailles (www.galeries-versailles.com), created and run by Paris-based Citycom, provides on-line shoppers with the opportunity to view and purchase some of the world's most exclusive brands from the comfort of their own home or office.

This new e-commerce site has been developed by Citycom using Superscape's 3D Webmaster interactive 3D authoring software and represents one of the most stylish on-line shopping experiences on the Web.

Visitors to the site can currently choose from a selection of 15 world-renowned luxury brands, including over 900 individual products from Burberrys, Parker, Waterman, Chaumet, Les Parfums Caron and Trussardi with many more brands to come.

"We are working hard to add at least one new product each day and believe that by Christmas time, which is obviously a key period for the Galeries, we will have about 20,000 presents to offer our customers," according to Citycom's Marketing Director, Isabelle Queyraud.

The home page offers visitors the opportunity to explore the boutiques, or search for gifts by brand or by category. In addition, there are currently three boutiques, all of which have been designed to recreate actual luxury shops in Paris. By the end of September, additional stores will have been added which will be "purely virtual," offering architects the opportunity to indulge their fantasies for the ideal environment in which to promote high-value, highly desirable goods.

For those shoppers who need help with choosing a gift, there is a special facility within the site designed for them. They type in their requirements, for example, "perfume for a young lady, with romantic connotations, for a birthday gift," listed in a certain price range. The system searches the database and offers between one to six products, all of which would be suitable. The consumer can then click on each suggested product, read a more detailed description of it (on the right hand side of the screen) and then make their final choice.

Goods are purchased with any of the major credit cards. The shopper completes the address details and if the item is for a present, types in these details and also any message. Galeries de Versailles then packages the present in suitable gift wrapping (using such materials as silk papers), produces the message on high quality paper and mails it anywhere in the world.

"One of our main objectives in building this site has been to recreate the elegant ambiance that the manufacturers would themselves choose to display their products," Queyraud added.

"We have used photographs of real boutiques and their surroundings to help us create the site and then added that essential extra dimension -- and reality -- by using Superscape's 3D Webmaster software to deliver a completely interactive 3D experience. We looked at other products and technologies, but Superscape was the only one that enabled us to create what we believe is one of the most beautiful, sophisticated and potentially most successful, shopping sites on the Web."
