Dwlima, everyone has their own thoughts and ideas on how they handle their investments and every persons situation is unique. Taking small profits on a stock as it increases in value is very common and I'm sure you are not alone in this line of thinking.. A lot depends on the number of share in a company you have accumulated and the total number you have to work with.

I have also been holding my shares.. and still accumulating. One interesting option to consider, in the event of a large pharmaceutical buy-out, they often exchange their (blue chip) stocks for proportionate numbers of the smaller company's stock. This is very appealing to me.
