Many of these devices have time of day chips in them that are used for keeping absolute time and several of these are Y2K problematic. While this does not necessarily affect packet forwarding, it can make for some interesting bills generated to customers :)

Seriously, most of these devices don't have big Y2K problems. Among other things, not a lot of COBOL code in routers.>>
