Big, BAAAD news for ASND and COMS!!!

Reported in Fortune 9/28 issue, page 278.
Could not find link. If not print subscriber, run to newsstand!!

Basically, article lists Coca-Cola (symbol KO) as possible Lucent acquisition target. Odds set at 1M to 1. I believe the magazine is currently collecting bets from readers.

Great news for ASND and COMS is, in same article, suggestion that LU could buy both. Odds are 3/5 and 3/2 respectively. The combined odds, according to my calculation, are 3/5 + 3/2 = 6/7.

Another potential LU target is Cisco! Odds 50 to 1.

Joe,
I was planning to buy some at that time, but cash became available on a bad market day, and I decided to take the position now. The overall market was down and I was able to pick up most of my shares at 29. It may not go below 29 before Tuesday, so I went for them yesterday. I hope it proves to be a good decision. I think if everything goes well, and there is bad news, I would be surprised if coms is below 32 on Tuesday before close. We may have a 2-3 point gap up on Wednesday, if results are good.

Joe, No more coms for me. My position is full without going into margin. Ave price 27 7/8 ;-)) Will be looking for 37-40 range before selling (unless of course the numbers are bad and its obvious that coms can't get there.) But this time around we also have October to worry about, maybe start lightening up 1st or 2nd week Oct, then buy back in at around 32-33-ish after any market drop. The Oct correction is getting to be like a self fulfilling prophesy, enough people believe it will happen that they begin selling and WHAMMO. I remember last OCT the news media was making such a big deal out of the 10 year anniversary of Oct 87' that they wouldn't let the story go until we got the 500 point drop. Such psychology will make it happen again.
