exchange2000.com did you read this post by Ray? exceptional and goes along with what you said
I don't think gold would be the panacea but it would help..after listening to Muriel Siebert saying that if the G7 did a coordinated effort and raised margin requirements on currency speculators..a lot of this angst would be gone..
also I guess there was a gold standard and then the depression..but how high were margin rates 50%?
also after listening to Rubin, apparently honestly saying,he is concerned about the welfare of this country, there was a flaw apparent to me..*(but what do I know)..if one decides to have a global marketplace..each head has to think of about the good for all first and then let it filter down to each country..otherwise...as we are witnessing..everything starts coming unglued..so the basis premise should be correct..or else there is no solid foundation..just the laws of nature..
Don Hayes..an extraordinally well respected market analysis suggested that gold was beginning to look interesting and he suggested that if he considered buying,it would be gold paper..shares..not bullion...hope somebody can correct me if I misquoted him

>>what would happened if people owning gold were taken to the city square and strung up by the neck?' <<

As long as your neck is long enough its not a problem.
