Maverick - " Advanced Micro Devices Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., has had its share of problems in recent months. With softer sequential and year-over-year sales and a net loss of $64.6 million for the second calendar quarter, AMD is hoping tha development of next-generation products will draw attention from PC OEMs. "

"No one seems to be making money on these systems," said Jonathan Joseph, analyst at NationsBanc Montgomery Securities, San Francisco.
Except maybe Intel Corp., Santa Clara, which expects to exceed Wall Street's estimates for the third quarter. It expects to post sales that are 8 percent to 10 percent above the $5.9 billion recorded in the second quarter.
