Mark, sadly - I have to agree with your assessment of the DD industry.

Heard today that Big Blue's DD operation is quite profitable.
No details, just from a worker whose yearly bonus depends on it.

<<Remember we are talking about a disk drive company. Cyclical, unpredictable, burned
lots of folks in the past, and suffering from demand crisis. >>
I can't argue with your assessment of hte drive industry. However, my thesis with HTCH rest on a virtual MONOPOLY in the suspension of the future. It is still my understaning that producing a pico MR drive without TSA is at best extremely difficult and inefficient cost wise. Without TSA HTCH is a very troubled commodity producer which fits your description. But if the thesis holds and they own the suspesion technology which will soon go into virtually every computer in the world, its a totally different ballgame. And right now, it appears they are haded rapidly in that direction.
I've said before that I believe people on this thread have a fantastic opportunity. It has taken 5 years or more for IBM and HTCH to develop TSA. Competition won't come along overnight. So I believe that if we continue to confirm that TSA has no competition and keep our ear to the ground for any in the future, we'll have plenty of time to make a small fortune (which I consider 300 to 500 percent from here). Where else in the market can investigation and research on a SINGLE SIMPLE ISSUE (which should be availble to people on this thread) yield such dramatic results?
The discouragement with the sector and the long TSA development time which you cite is exactly what creates this opportunity both for HTCH and for investors. Remember only a few months ago when HTCH routinely traded in the low 30s with TSA production only a small fraction of today's level?
