David - I don't think you can take his statement out of context. He is talking about recessionary times.

You're right of course. I did simplify, but nonetheless he is still using, at heart, the same logic. In particular, 'semiconductors are normally deflationary, therefore in a recession they should be a worse place to invest than most other segments'. It might or might not be true, but it is hardly the logical necessity that he implies.
