<< Does anyone have thoughts on writing NOV 70 calls?>>

Writing calls on a leading technology issue just when the market has bottomed and forming a base is not a very smart strategy in my book. Especially uncovered calls, your setting yourself up for a big loss.

I know everybody says October will be horrible, and it is assumed to be fact. This leads me to believe October may surprise, as there is great danger in making assumptions about the general market trend.

All this aside, having uncovered short call positions in DELL is a way to the house of pain/poor house. Once the market gains any strength at all DELL will be the first to suddenly gain 10, 20, 30 or more points, and you will be covering those short positions in fear for your life savings.

My advice to you is an emphatic DON'T DO IT! This is one of the strongest stocks there is, go long it.

Hello, Perry! J. P. is right: Never write naked calls on Dell, it can cost you the farm!

If you insist, at least write a straddle, Put and Call, so you'll have twice the premiums and you can roll out the loser into a new straddle with even more premiums to collect. This is the safest naked write.
