Zeev : Re "major lows are often accompanied by the closing of
marginal producers"

You might think so, but it is my impression that the more marginal the mine and the lower the gold price the more the shares of that mine are desired by US (and other) speculators. That is certainly the view I have gained by reading various threads at SI.

I have also learned that the actual price of gold at the time of purchase of the shares is not the price in the speculator's dreams --- which is, apparently, the important price!

Zeev when you have inflation that caused the high valuation of Japan future versus controlled growth. Banks that have laws that are loose not just Japan but elsewhere Mortgages were given easily here in Ca at peak and some hurt beyond imagination and some have not yet recovered from this tho they still are taking tax write off however and were booming elsewhere.
I question the feds move to pump liquidity when one speaks in terms of unrestrained growth one see Asia.
How does one properly value a currency. At what point does the world revalue? We now have banks looking awful sick here so austerity will set in it has too as balances become quesitonable so free money becomes tight here too. Will that not lead to a lower dollar value less growth less strenght?
With lots of dollars floating out there i think gold be it commodity based seems safe based. Please tell me where i am wrong as quite frankly i think all dollars are going to topple world wide in the process of using ours as the world dollar peg. When one states liquidity is needed for growth the rapid growth of rate was an illusion which helped in Asia the assumption of continual and creation of infinite debt .
I may be wrong but in an economic world crisis state how can this not occur? How are we now immune when our banks are showing figures that arn't rosey?

Fiumbling for answers as usual.
