Hi:

I"m new to posting to this thread and new to daytrading myself.

I"m not familiar with the elitetrading publication. But I would heartily recommend that you explore Ken Wolfe's MTrader room. They have been making a lot of positive new changes and the focus is on education. Each day Ken conducts a class that discusses what has happened in the first couple of hours of trading or so. Therefore, many of the things you read about in "the books" are brought to you in real life application on a day to day basis. Ken focuses on why a trade may or may not be good. He does make calls, but really, the focus is more on education. He seems to prefer to teach fishing rather than run a restaurant that serves it.

Ken is real upfront as well about telling people to not trade, or the newbies to stay away from certain trades. So if, like a kid, you choose not to listen, you pay the consequences. There does seem to be a tuition you pay in learning to daytrade. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of paper trading. If you tell the room you are doing a papertrade, Ken is not shy about telling you why it is dangerous or may not work or whether it might be a good one....the same as if you were doing real money.

I haven't been in there much since some changes have been made due to some medical issues. However, the small amount of time I was in there was very much in control. You don't get the hype and low volume calls that you may find in other rooms. And the room isn't stiff, there is plenty of room during less busy times to get to know one another. A real community is evolving out of this, which I think is very important. There are many very caring people in there, humor, which makes the tense moments more bearable, and much to learn from one another. Egos are checked at the door.

There is a thread here on Silicon Investor that I would also invite you to check....Momentum Trading. The website is mtrader.com and there is a one week trial.

I have absolutely no connection financially to that service. I'm just learning as you are. But I have been tremendously pleased with what that room is becoming. Its not to be found anywhere else.

Best wishes....

Mary

I started out learning Level II with Elite Trading online course. I have studied all the latest books out. I still recommend Elite Trading as a very good way to get started. The graphics will help you a visualize the level II screen much better. I believe it is well worth the $200
