Here is an article from the OCT 98 issue of PC WORLD (pg 41).. It's a follow up to some complaints they received in July. Looks like DELL is making good on it's customer support policies.

DELL OWNERS SPEAK OUT

I've gotten a lot of mail is response to "Is DELL living up to it's Reputation?" in my July column. Some people shared horror stories of faulty systems and poor service. But lots of people wrote in defense of DELL, including Don Blaquiere of Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.

"I've live in the Canadian subarctic. In January I bought a DELL Pentium. The PC arrived; then followed the month from hell. The problems were all software related, and for a month I nearly spent more time on the phone with DELL than I did in my office. The tech support people were patient and well trained. One guy even gave me his home e-mail address because he didn't want to leave me hanging.

"I called my DELL sales rep after one month. We reviewed my file. "Not good" she said. She offered me a full refund or system replacement . I ordered a Pentium I, and DELL provided a full rebate on my original purchase. It even credited me the cost of the original courier. I don't expect perfection, but I expect companies to make good on their products and promises. DELL support is everything the company says it is."
