The perjury involved sex between consenting adults. Anyone inquiring into such things, for whatever reason, even the best of reasons, is a bit of a witch-hunter. So let it be. Concentrate on what is directly material: blackmail, for example, the threat of blackmail. Evict Clinton using the simplest possible instrument, whatever it is, if eviction is your goal. But be careful that the void he leaves is not occupied in 2000 by some blow-dried, glib product of the country-club. The business of improving American education, fixing health care, reaching out to blacks, etc., must be continued if America is to be strong socially as well as technologically. I must sign off now. But I tell you: in Europe (Athens, Rome, Paris, London, remember?) we have now overtaken Boeing in aircraft sales, are set to outdo America in cars, are preparing a single currency, entering into a lasting alliance with the new Russia: and yet your discomfiture is our dismay. I wish America good luck and for Americans the wisdom to know what you must do.
