Gary, HELP!!!! EMERGENCY!!!

Something very strange is happening to the Chart program: I started it up and an error message was issued that the 1st symbol in a list was invalid. The taskbar (W95) showed the chart program was running, but no image was on the screen. I typed "E" and the new symbol box appeared. I typed "BAC" and it went away; still no image on screen. I maximized the task and all shows fine. If I try to go into Restore mode, it disappears altogether!

Yesterday, I downloaded SurfinStocks java app which was posted around, but failed to get it to run. I wonder if it is somehow interfering, since I had to first load Sun's Java Engine onto my system.

Do you have any clue as to what's going on?

Gary, regarding the chart program craziness...

Now it is really wierd again. I shut it down and restarted the program. All worked ok. I reloaded the list which orignally declared the first symbol to be invalid, and it showed the symbol OK. I thought all was well, but decided to check once more. I shut it down again (with the originally offending list still active) and restarted it. I got at least 50-75 dialog boxes streaming onto the screen saying "Symbol ANF not found". The list only had about 10-12 symbols which were manually entered.

What the heck is going on?

EDIT: P.S., the chart now does not show in "restore" mode again.

Thanks, Gary -- will test out later tonight.

Wouldn't you really rather be out in the MI sunshine on a day like this instead of dealing with the menagerie?? :)

Gary, regarding the strange behavior on the Chart program:

I relocated one of the components of SurfinStocks to the desktop (per Steve's request) and it now runs fine.

Thinking there may still be a conflict between QP2 and the libraries (??) installed by Sun's Java engine, I checked their "readme" file and it indicates that all files load into application directories, not the Windows or System directory, so I don't think Java runtime engine is at fault.

Gary,
The 9/26 virtual update installed & cured all sys. hangs. A minor malingering miscue is processMS randomly fails to update 1 or 2 of 9 specified v.directories. Cleared all output, reran scans and second attempt misses occur in different directories. This happened occasionally in MSDATA output mode waiting for the v.patch. Maybe simultaneous clearing/updating multiple directories pushes 200mhz beyond its latent reflexes. Could delayed sequential launch provide a cure?

Thanks for the driver fix. Happy camping ahead.
