NEW YORK (Reuters) - Intel Corp. is expected to license technology to RealNetworks Inc. to boost the quality of video on the Internet, and help the small software company fend off a challenge from Microsoft Corp. in the race to bring television-style capabilities to the World Wide Web, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. The deal reflects Intel's strategy of encouraging the development of software that drives demand for the company's computer chips, and digital audio and video, the report said. The pact also highlights Intel's willingness to work with rivals of Microsoft, its longtime ally in the so-called Wintel partnership that dominates personal computing, the Journal said. ###

great but i think the real interest from recording cd quality onto your computer will not come from actual pre-recorded cd's but from the real audio live concert broadcasts. wouldnt be surprised to see bottleggers get one of those $300 cd recorders liquidaudio sells and start banging out cd quality boots off rnwk's live one of a kind concerts. think it's called proprietary, something no one else offers. by the by, mpeg is a joke, liquid audio will one day be the method of choice, that is a slam dunk no brainer, mpeg joke, liquid audio king cav
