Nope imo we dont have a global free market for labor in this country. We do have a national free market with respect to salaries it seems to me. Example are you aware that the paperwork required to get an H1B Visa worker requires a certain type of skill etc. and that leans heavily towards the technical worker. Why not open the floodgates for foreign Doctors, Lawyers etc? After all medicine to too expensive here right? How about mechanics? I spent $400 at the mechanic a while ago.... how about importing those skills? No we dont do that.

If you take a long term view of any profession, artificial salary depression isnt a good thing. Smart people wont gravitate to those professions, in fact we are already seeing that. Im in management btw I have no personal interest in seeing salaries rise except that I know this is not a good way to do business long term. Remember even Henry Ford had a $5 day which was an unheard of wage at the time.

The major league sports aren't free markets. They're monopolies. They have special exemptions from Congress.
