She needed it just to walk into Mr Bacon's office and to carry documents to his desk. It also meant that she could stay in meetings when classified information was discussed

Uh Soros, I know you didn't write this article, but there is one glaring ommission.

There are two criteria involved in holding a security clearance. The first is access which Lewinshy apparently had when required.

The second is a "need to know", and I highly doubt that she was permitted to sit in on high-level decision making sessions unless she was assigned to transcribe the sessions.

And also, with SCI clearance, there are caveats involved that comparmentalize access to different sensitive programs. An example would be that one person has access (a required clearance), and a need to know for one program, but no need to know regarding a different, equally (or lesses sensitive) program. So despite the person's clearance, they would not have access to the second program due to a lack of "need to know".

Just thought I might nip this in the bud. Almost every White House intern is cleared to TS/SCI level, based upon the likelihood of being involved in sensitive issues. They are then granted "need to know" (caveat) access based upon their particular job assignment.

Ron
